Grades 6-8
December 3, 2011
PC2Main (Popularizing Computing to Mainstream)

At this time we are soliciting assistance from you in identifying middle school students at your institution who may have an interest in a computing research program. Middle school students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply; however, we are particularly interested in identifying underrepresented candidates including students with disabilities, first generation/low income, and students from ethnic backgrounds.   All students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled in an accredited middle school and have completed a 250 word essay describing their computing interest as well as their college and career goals.

This program is free and open to those who qualify.

PC2Main (Popularizing Computing to the Mainstream) is a research collaboration between WizKidz Science and Technology Centers, the University of Notre Dame, Morehouse College-Project Identity, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and Georgetown University. In this program, we capitalize on the appeal that adventure games have on the younger generation and embed high-level computer science content by making it part of an adventure scenario.   Applications for the December 3, 2011 PC2Main workshop at Morehouse College will be available September 26, 2011.

Grades K-8
At this time we are soliciting assistance from our parents, associates and colleagues in identifying elementary and middle school students at their institutions who may have an interest in science and technology driven summer camps.  We are particularly interested in identifying underrepresented candidates including students with disabilities, first generation/low income, and students from ethnic backgrounds.  All students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled in an accredited elementary and middle school.  Middle school students must complete a 250 word essay describing their science and technology interest as well as their college and career goals. A scholarship up to $375 will be awarded to selected students to attend the camp of their choice with WizKidz Science and Technology Centers between the dates of June 7- July 31, 2012.

The Sci-Tek Camp Scholarship Program is a Georgia outreach initiative designed to give students from low-income families the opportunity to experience WizKidz Science and Technology Centers S.T.E.M programs. The program recruits elementary and middle school students interested in the following fields: robotics, computer science, forensic science, life science, astronomy, and aviation.

We encourage students to submit their applications as soon as possible to better ensure they are placed in their specific research area of interest. Thank you in advance for your support of our program. Applications for Grades K-8 Sci-Tek Scholarships will be available January 2012.
